and guess what. I have the new nano ( 4th Gen). Not compatible. Great Sound, easy to work, looks great, but not all iPods are compatible. Make sure your iPod is compatible before you buy.
Sometimes I get a no ipod connected message. The sun shines on it and everything is dimmed out, it's perfect at night.2. If you're on the phone before you connect the iPhone, the music will play through the bluetooth.3. I got the head unit and it works almost perfectly with my iPhone. Doesn't happen often and removing and replacing the phone fixes it.Like the title says, almost perfect, and definitely worth the price.Edit: It also charges the phone as well, great bonus. I'll list my complaints (minor), but I recommend this head unit to anyone who has an iPhone or iPod touch.1. Browse speed is super fast, just like you're on the iPhone. It's hard to see the LED during the day.
This maybe be a big issue and I need time to decide if it's a deal breaker, since I like everything else about it. My only real complaint it's hard to read the screen in bright daylight. That is not true, there is a brows option that let's you browse 10% of you music at a time, this can really speed up the browsing.
I am using my auto stock speakers and still sound great (Honda Civix 2-door LX). I liked the supplied remote it easy to user and safer to use when driving. I just brought the Sony CDX-GT920IP auto radio.
Another user complained that it was hard to browse the IPOD music collection since you have to move one album or song at a time. I only have had it for a day will update later. I find the interface for WM3 CD's and IPOD a little complicated.
I figure it will just take time to get use to the controls.
I bought this for the ipod direct input, but it turned out, manipulating the IPOD through the SONY is awkward and I tend to use the IPOD just with a short auxiliary sound cable. Think about going through 100 albums or 1000 songs, punching the "forward" key one at a time. The radio memory buttons (1-6) are very tiny compared to most radios. If you were listening to something like book-on-tape via IPOD the fact it is plugged in and charging might be worthwhile. (1) The pop-off faceplate is easy to pop off but I find it pretty awkward to hook back on. The sound is great; it's powerful and crisp.
The CD changer is "behind" the swing-door faceplate, which gives more space on the faceplate. And it takes a while for the Sony to display each new album name or track name (like 1/2 second). (With the note, I am not any super audiophile and this is with the car's factory speakers). (2) There is direct IPOD input, but the IPOD interface is pretty awkward. If these two factors are not a concern for you, you'll be happy. Radio reception is very good also.
Two factors to think about.
I am very satisfied. Shipped fast too. This is an awesome stereo, has the ipod cable and a front aux input. Sony car stereos for life.
